A sempre polêmica premiação do Grammy já começou a celebrar sua edição de 2017 divulgando nesta semana a lista de indicados para as diversas categorias.
Os indicados para as categorias de Rap e Hip-Hop não são surpreendentes, mas representam bem o mainstream da atual produção da cena deste ano (2016) com nomes como Beyoncé, Drake, Rihanna, Kanye West, Desiigner, Chance the Rapper, Fat Joe, Remy Ma, Kendrick Lamar, 2 Chainz, Lil Wayne, De la Soul, Solange, Bryson Tiller e PartyNextDoor.
Entre os destaques da edição está, como esperado, a cantora Beyoncé. Mas, fora o óbvio, a cantora além de concorrer à várias categorias, concorre também em categorias de rock pela faixa “Don’t Hurt Yourself” (em parceria com Jack White, ex-White Stripes) que está em seu álbum “Lemonade”, mostrando a versatilidade da cantora que consegue se inserir em circuitos musicais muito diferentes e levar um pouco da cultura hip hop por cenas tão diferentes. Também é destaque a premiação para o lendário grupo De la Soul e, por outro lado, o polêmico e frequentemente odiado Lil Yatchy.
Apesar de normalmente ser criticado por cobrir apenas o mainstream da produção musical e de gêneros mais populares (ao contrário da Soul Train Awards, por exemplo), é interessante ao mesmo tempo perceber a quantidade de artistas ligados ao Rap e ao Hip Hop, ou que flertam com esses estilos (como Ariana Grande) na lista de indicados, mostrando que realmente são os gêneros mais influentes hoje nos EUA.
